Block captains, along with neighbors, are encouraged to become actively involved in crime prevention efforts, as well as the important process of information exchange between neighbors and the police department.

This free class will be taught by Elgin police officers and staff and will consist of informative topics and hands-on experiences. The class will provide training and education in awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance along with a technological portion on self-protection.
EPD's winter session of the Spanish speaking Citizens Police Academy will begin on January 17, 2015. The training runs for three consecutive Saturday's from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm.
