Public Power is attempting to solicit people by claiming that residents need to sign their form in order to have transmission and other regulatory charges removed from their ComEd bill. They are pressuring residents to sign this form without fully explaining their program or allowing residents to read the document. When residents insist on reading the document first, they claim that they are busy and that they have other customers to visit and they don’t have time. Public Power appears to be another alternate residential electric supplier.
In addition to calling the police at 847-289-2700 should solicitors not have a permit, residents may file a complaint about the way they are being solicited directly with the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) at the website below, or call 1-800-524-0795. The ICC is the regulatory body that issues licenses to alternate electric suppliers and they are who has the authority to stop this action from occurring in the future.
