[ARCHIVED] Annual Youth Scholarship Team Challenge

Teams from local businesses, civic organizations, schools or neighborhoods are invited to participate in the sixth annual Youth Scholarship Team Challenge, to be held from 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, at The Centre of Elgin. The City of Elgin Parks and Recreation Department holds this event each year to raise money for the Youth Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to children of families who cannot otherwise afford to participate in recreational programs.

Groups can participate by forming a team of 8 to 12 members. Up to 10 teams will be registered on a first-come basis. Team entry fees are $350, which includes event t-shirts, refreshments, and a post event meal. Teams will compete in eleven different activities, some skilled related and some whacky. The activities are changed every year; new activities this year include the elephant smack and jigsaw.

This fun filled event is a great way to build team work and camaraderie within any organization, while at the same time helping a great cause. Teams are encouraged to register early, while slots are still available. The final deadline for team registration is October 19. For more information about this event call Liz Langton at 847-531-7018.
