[ARCHIVED] 35th Annual Elgin Valley Fox Trot

It just wouldn’t be Memorial Day Weekend without the Elgin Valley Fox Trot! Celebrating its 35th year, this popular local event offers races for all levels of competition including a 10 mile run, a 5k run and a 2 mile Walk for a Cause.

As part of the 35th anniversary year, a few important changes have been made to this year’s race. First, the event will take place to Saturday, May 26 instead of the traditional Memorial Day Monday. In addition, at the request of runners the race starting time has been moved to 7:30 a.m.

The courses will begin in the Center City area at Kimball and Douglas, and take runners through the beautiful historic neighborhoods as well as the winding hills and ravines of Lords Park. Even though the courses are new, they replicate the same route quality.

This year’s event is set to be bigger and better than ever with record numbers of participants, sponsors offering everything from massages to free sample products, and a great party area to celebrate with friends and family after the race that you won’t want to miss.

Registration is now available until midnight on Sunday, May 20th at www.cityofelgin.org/foxtrot. The advance registration fee until March 31st for the 10 mile race is $40 and the 5k race is $30. Fees do go up after March 31st so make sure to register early.

For those of you who are unable to run this year but would still like to get involved, there is still time to become a Fox Trot Volunteer. Please call Heather Williams at 847-214-5413 to sign up.

For more information on the race please visit www.cityofelgin.org/foxtrot or call (847) 214-5413.
