Date: Saturday, April 21, 2012
Time:1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Place: Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division Street, 8th Floor

In conjunction with a staged reading of Telling Lives, the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission is presenting a writing workshop led by award winning playwright Faye Sholiton.

Writing for the stage requires a unique set of creative muscles. In this two-hour workshop, participants will complete exercises that demonstrate

*what sets play writing apart from other literary genres

*what you’ll eventually need to know about your characters

Through group activities and with the use of work sheets, you will find new tools to enhance your work-in-progress – or, if you’re just getting started, get you thinking like a playwright. Also included is a list of recommended books on playwriting.

Please register by submitting your contact info (name, address, phone & e-mail)
and workshop fee of $20 ($15 for students) to:Richard Pahl, 534 McClure Ave., Elgin, IL 60123
