Mayor David Kaptain will resume hosting monthly on-line Live Chats in 2012. The first event will take place on Monday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. The main focus of the discussion will be to talk about the changes made in the 2012 budget that will affect billing for city services such as garbage and leaf pickup. Dan Ault from the Public Works Department will join the Mayor for the on-line discussion.
The purpose of the live chats is to give the mayor and other community leaders the opportunity to hear directly from residents on issues, ideas and concerns they would like to share with their city government. The events also give elected officials the opportunity to clarify and explain how and why they have made certain policy decisions. These sessions are intended to provide a forum to discuss these important policy issues that will shape the future of our community.
Residents can log in to participate on-line to the city's homepage and follow the link to chat live with the mayor. Participants can type in comments and questions and the mayor will respond directly in the webcast. Residents are encouraged to participate either on-line or in person.
The mayor will also continue to host Community Conversations with small groups of individuals, businesses or organizations to discuss issues of more specific interest and concern.
Residents can check out the complete schedule of Mayor’s Listening Sessions and live web-chats at the city’s website murphy_c@cityofelgin.org.
