Elgin – Baseball and soccer seasons are over outdoors. But did you know the Elgin Parks and Recreation Department has a hot option for those who want to keep their skills sharp in the cold months? Elgin’s Eastside Recreation Center, 1080 E. Chicago St., has two indoor batting tunnels and an indoor soccer field where teams can practice and perfect their skills. Each features synthetic turf flooring and rubber infill.
The tunnels and soccer field are available from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.The two indoor batting tunnels can accommodate softball or baseball. The 90- by 35-foot indoor soccer field can be used for games and practice all year and offers separate team benches/dugouts and spectator viewing.
