(Elgin, IL) – The community is invited to attend the Fourteenth Annual Image Awards sponsored by the City of Elgin’s Image Advisory Commission on Thursday, March 9 at The Centre of Elgin. The event will be held in the Heritage Ballroom beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by the awards ceremony at 7:00 pm.
For fourteen years the Annual Image Awards have recognized the efforts of individuals, local organizations, civic groups and businesses whose work has significantly improved the image of Elgin. As in previous years, the nominees and winners alike represent a variety of community projects that have included building renovations, special events, cultural programs, and numerous volunteer and business efforts. Nominations are submitted by the public and the top image-enhancers are selected by the Image Advisory Commission members.
This year, twelve nominations were received in categories that include individual professionals and volunteers, projects, organizations, businesses and citizenship. The nominees for the 2005 Image Awards include Rebecca Hunter, Coleman Elementary School Fence Project, St. Vincent De Paul Organization, Grand Victoria Foundation, Gilbert Nore, Christine Byers, Gail Borden Public Library, Al’s Café & Creamery, Elinor Richoz, Kirk Lawler, Mike Sullivan, and Provena Saint Joseph Hospital.
The Annual Image Awards are one of the major activities of the Image Advisory Commission. The Commission, comprised of 12 volunteers appointed by the City Council is currently Chaired by Sue Moylan.
