Applications for the 2011 Residential Energy Assessment Grant Program are now available at the City of Elgin’s Planning and Neighborhood Services Department. The program was created by the city last year with funding from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant. The grant assists eligible communities in creating and implementing the strategies towards energy efficiency, conservation and job creation.
The Residential Energy Assessment Grant Program provides an opportunity to residential property owners to obtain an energy assessment on how their home uses energy, loses energy and what improvements should be made to make their residence more energy efficient. The grant covers $375 of the cost for a certified Resnet Auditor to come out to the home. The cost to the homeowner is just $100. The deadline for application submittal is October 31, 2011 at 5pm.
All program guidelines and applications are available at City Hall, Community Development Department or on the City of Elgin’s website at www.cityofelgin.org
