[ARCHIVED] The City of Elgin is seeking Public Input to discuss boat launch improvements at Slade Ave. Park

Elgin residents are invited to comment on proposed boat launch improvement plans at Slade Avenue Park, which is located at the end of Slade Avenue and the Fox River. The meeting will be held August 4, 2011 at 7:00 p. m. in the Sherman Wellness conference room at the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way as part of the regular monthly membership meeting of NENA, the Northeast Neighborhood Association.

An application for BAAD (Boat Access Area Development) grant funds from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is being prepared for submission. Up to 90% of the construction costs for boat launch projects may be funded with the BAAD funds, if approved. Proposed improvements include a parking area and turnaround for vehicles and boat trailers, a concrete boat launch area, a fishing/access pier and an ADA (American’s with Disabilities Act) accessible path to the pier.

For more information, contact Paul Bednar, City of Elgin Park Development Coordinator at (847) 931-6788, or bednar_p@cityofelgin.org.
