[ARCHIVED] Dog Park Survey

Hoffman Estates Park District and the City of Elgin are considering a partnership to establish a 2 acre dog park. Before we embark(pun) on spending money for this special park we need to know if there is enough interest from the Elgin residents.

The dog park would be located in Canterbury South Park, a Hoffman Estates park which is located on the eastern edge of Elgin (adjacent to Cobbler’s Crossing subdivision).
The dog park would be fenced, with a separate area for small dogs, have a keypad code for entry, water service for the dogs, agility equipment and a shade structure and benches for people. All members would have to register each dog, verifying that vaccinations are up to date and records will be kept by the HEPD, as required by the Cook County Department of Health. The site will be monitored every other day for maintenance. Dogs that are unruly may be prohibited from the park at the discretion of Hoffman Estates Park District.

The construction cost for this park is expected to be $80,000, to be split between the two communities. Additional questions regarding the potential dog park and operations can be forwarded to Debbie at Hoffman Estates Park District (847)285-5442 or Take Survey
