[ARCHIVED] City Announces Energy Efficiency Grant for Commercial Property Owners

Applications for the 2011 Commercial Retrofit Grant Program are now available at the City of Elgin’s Planning and Neighborhood Services Department. The program was created last year with funding from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant that the city received to assist eligible communities in creating and implementing the strategies towards energy efficiency, conservation and job creation.

The Commercial Retrofit Grant Program provides commercial property owners in CC1 and CC2 zoned properties and designated TIF districts with an opportunity to make energy efficient upgrades to their buildings. The grant would cover half of the costs up to $40,000 for projects that increase the overall energy efficiency of the building. Informational sessions are scheduled for July 14 and July 19 at the Centre, 100 Symphony Way, West Conference Room at 6pm. While this is not a requirement, the City would like to provide assistance and answer questions regarding your application, supporting documentation and type of work proposed. The deadline for application submittal is August 19, 2011 at 5pm.

All program guidelines and applications are available at City Hall, Community Development Department or on the City of Elgin’s website at www.cityofelgin.org
