[ARCHIVED] 4th of July "Toys on Parade"

On Monday, July 4th the City of Elgin along with the Downtown Neighborhood Association will be hosting the 4th of July “Toys on Parade”. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. at the corner of Douglas and Slade, ending at Douglas and Highland Avenue.
This year, the parade will include and entertain as many kids as possible; therefore, the Grand Marshalls kicking off the parade are teachers that were nominated by the students of Elgin throughout this past school year.

Following this year’s theme, the Community Crisis Center will be collecting new toys in front of City Hall after the parade for their annual Toy Give-a-way. As an extra incentive, the parade organizers will give out a free child admission to be used along with a paid adult admission to LEGOLAND Discovery Center for anyone who donates to this cause. In addition, for a small donation to the Crisis Center, kids can take a photo with the Toy Story characters outside City Hall after the parade. It is required that parents bring their own camera.
