On Saturday, May 14, 2011, the Elgin Human Relations Commission will hold the first “official” community conversation with members of Elgin’s social service/not for profit community. The time is 10:00 am-noon at Gail Borden Library. Representatives from 47 social service/not for profit organizations serving residents of Elgin have been invited. Pre-surveys have been sent to persons attending with the information gathered being used to develop the dialogue for the meeting on the 14th. Areas of discussion will include: transparency of process, equitable distribution of resources, accessibility to City staff and roles of Government and Not for Profits. This will be the first in a series of conversations with actionable outcomes between the City and our not for profit community stakeholders.
