[ARCHIVED] Firefighter Memorial Service Set for May 7

The Elgin Fire Department will host its Annual Firefighter Memorial Service on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Fire Barn #5 Museum, 533 St. Charles St. in Elgin.

Fire Departments from Elgin and 10 surrounding communities will gather to honor and remember Illinois firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty as well as current and retired firefighters who passed away the previous year.

The ceremony will be emceed by Elgin Assistant Chief Mike Baker, with feature keynote speaker, Elgin Fire Chief John Fahy.

The fire Museum will be open for tours and visiting fire departments will bring fire equipment which will be on display. Refreshments will be served and the event will be held rain or shine.
