- The city of Elgin water department has contracted with a company to remove the old paint, make any spot repairs and then repaint the interior and the exterior of the Shales Parkway Water Tank. The contractor has been on site as of April 11 erecting the shroud around the tank. The actual sandblasting and painting should not begin until early May. The work will continue through the summer and completion is expected by September 2nd.
