The Elgin BPAC, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee invites residents to attend a public informational meeting in order to review the City of Elgin Proposed Bikeway Route 1 Plan. The meeting will be held November 16, 2010, at 7 p.m. in The Ballroom of The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way.
The proposed route is slated to connect into the off-street path at Indian Drive and Shoe Factory Rd, then extend west on Congdon Ave to Prospect, where the on street route continues south to Slade Ave., then west to Douglas Ave, then south to Kimball Street where it will connect into the downtown bike route. As a result, there may changes to the current on-street parking along some segments of the route. Steve Wasilowski, Chairman of the BPAC says “the mission of the committee is to implement the Bikeway Master Plan and Route 1, an important link that will connect the Fox River Trail to neighboring communities to the east of Elgin, in fact all the way to Busse Woods once a couple of small gaps are complete.” Resident feedback on the proposed route is encouraged.
