[ARCHIVED] Bundled Brush Collection Due To Storm Damage

On October 26, 2010, severe wind storms swept through Elgin causing tree damage to both private and municipal trees. The city is offering residents two methods for disposing of their damaged branches and limbs.

First: residents are asked to bundle small amounts of branches and limbs by the following guidelines in order to ensure collection during normal trash collection days:
Branches and tree limbs must be tied into bundles no more than five feet in length and two feet in diameter and must weigh less than 50 pounds. Individual branches and limbs must be no thicker than two inches in diameter. Place the bundles curb side during the normal trash pickup day. Refuse stickers are not required for bundled brush collection.

Second: Residents are requested to place large tree branch debris curb side during their normal trash day cycle. City crews will pick up the larger limbs placed curb side the day after your normal trash collection day. This service will be provided for one week only beginning November 1 and ending Saturday, November 6, 2010. It should be noted city crews will not be able to enter private property to remove limbs or branches.
