[ARCHIVED] Police Seeking Public's Assistance in Fire Incident

Elgin police are looking for anyone who may have information regarding a fire at 2079 Clearwater, Elgin on Aug. 30, 2010.

Elgin firefighters were called to the address at about 2:30 a.m. on that Monday to find the home engulfed in flames. The homeowners were out of town and neighbors were evacuated. The fire caused extensive damage estimated at more than $450,000. No one was injured.

“We have reason to believe that there was forcible entry into the home,” said Elgin Det. Brian Gorcowski. “We also believe the fire was intentionally set.”
