[ARCHIVED] Highland Avenue Street Rehabilitation Project Status

On Monday, August 30, Phase II of the Highland Avenue Reconstruction Project will begin. Eastbound Highland Avenue will be open to traffic from Monroe St to Lynch St. Access to all side streets on the south side of Highland Avenue between Monroe and Lynch will be opened as well.

Phase II of the project also has all westbound Highland Avenue from Mountain St to Monroe/Vincenet Place being detoured to Lawrence Avenue. In addition, there will be no access to Highland from Mountain St, Washington St, Harvey St, McLure Ave or Hamilton Ave during this phase of construction.

The construction elements of Phase II includes the asphalt grinding of the existing westbound lanes, the removal of concrete/brick base course, the construction of new curb and gutter and then concrete pavement placement. It is anticipated that this phase will take approximately six weeks which, depending upon weather, will put the opening of westbounds at about October 13th.
