A partnership between inPLAY EVENTS and the City of Elgin is bringing the 2nd Annual Elgin Wine Festival to scenic Festival Park along the Fox River on May 29, 2010. Festival goers at this outdoor event will enjoy staying in the area on Memorial Day weekend for food and wine tasting, live music, relaxation, and supporting a worthy cause.
From 1:00-7:00 pm, rain or shine under one big tent, guests can indulge their palates by sampling from more than 120 fine wines from around the world. Local restaurants and caterers will be on hand selling their signature dishes. In addition, area chefs will offer cooking demonstrations and wineries will hold interactive wine seminars.
Beer lovers will enjoy the Belgian Beer Café, sponsored by Stella Artois, a beer garden experience within the festival featuring sampling of Stella Artois, Leffe and Hoegaarden beers.
Adult wine tasting tickets will be $25 in advance and $35 at the door, and include admission, souvenir wine glass, 10 tasting tickets, festival program, access to all demonstrations & musical entertainment, and the opportunity to purchase wine at a discount. Designated Driver tickets are $10 in advance or at the door, and include two non-alcoholic drinks, festival program, access to all demonstrations and musical entertainment, and a souvenir wine glass upon departure. NISRA (Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association), a cooperative of 13 park districts and cities in McHenry County and portions of Lake, Cook and Kane counties, has been chosen to receive partial proceeds from the event. Since 1976, NISRA’s year round community recreation programs, camps and trips have enriched the lives of local children and adults with disabilities.
Proceeds from the Wine Festival will support NISRA programs and scholarships thanks to generous sponsors including Meijer stores, Stella Artois, Hoegaarden, Leffe, FIJI Water, Wine Discount Center, Daily Herald, Y103.9, the City of Elgin, and inPLAY EVENTS.
