Bikers can bike through the Elgin Historic District on Monday, June 15 as part of Elgin's Bike to Work Week initiative. Bikers will begin at Elgin’s Old Main building, 360 Park Street, at 6:30 p.m.
Sponsored by the City of Elgin Parks and Recreation Department, the Elgin Community Network and the Gail Borden Public Library, the tour is one of many activities planned for the week which runs through Friday, June 19. Residents can participate in biking-related activities including educational seminars and races all week long.
Those interested can also participate in the Corporate Challenge where organizations can assemble a team of bike commuters to ride to work. The team with the highest percentage of bike commuters that week will be recognized at an Elgin City Council meeting and win prizes.
