Residents are invited to attend a park planning meeting May 26, 2009, at 7 p.m. in The Centre’s West Conference Room as part of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board’s regular meeting.
Residents interested in participating in the design of Phase One for the West Regional Park, located on Plank Road, west of Switzer Road in Elgin can review a Concept Plan at this meeting. The West Regional Park is 224 acres in size and will be developed in Phases over many years. Phase One improvements may include tennis courts, basketball courts, a playground, a picnic shelter and two soccer fields, as well as a parking lot. The City intends to request OSLAD development funds from the IDNR, Illinois Department of Natural Resources to help pay for these improvements.
Residents that live on Elgin’s East Side in the area near Popular Creek Drive and Chicago Street may be interested in the plans to acquire parcels in order to create a new neighborhood park on Ash Drive. The City intends to request OSLAD acquisition funds from the IDNR, Illinois Department of Natural Resources to help pay for such a purchase.
