[ARCHIVED] Elgin Public Works Crews to Focus on Street Cleaning

Crews will be out today and tomorrow sweeping streets and cleaning sidewalks from winter debris.

“We’ll have five sweepers out Tuesday and Wednesday sweeping streets,” said Dave Lawry, Elgin’s General Services Group Director. “Land Management crews will be cleaning sidewalks as well.”

Public Works personnel will focus on cleaning arterial roads and streets with parking restrictions today. Downtown streets and residential areas will be cleaned tomorrow.

“Clean streets help foster a certain level of community pride,” said Lawry. “Street and sidewalk maintenance is an important residential service.”
