In response to the community’s increased need for social services, the City of Elgin and United Way of Elgin will host an Agency Fair on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 1–5 p.m. at the Hemmens Cultural Center, lower level, 45 Symphony Way.
Local agencies that provide assistance for emergency services, food resources, clothing, utility help, housing, financial assistance, and counseling will be on site to provide information on how to access these services.
Lynne Bosley, President of United Way Elgin, acknowledged the dramatic increase in inquiries by families who have never before asked for assistance.
“Finding your way through the myriad of services that are available can be a daunting task even for those who are well versed in social services,” said Bosley. “We hope by offering this Agency Fair, we can help people connect with the appropriate social service agencies.”
Participating agencies include: Community Crisis Center, The Salvation Army, Centro de Informacion, Alternatives/Workforce Transition Job Department Elgin Community College,
Family Service Association, Well Child Center Pediatric Dental/WIC, Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) and Senior Services Associates of Elgin.
Social service agencies interested in participating can reserve booth space by contacting Dan Ault at either 847-931-6082 or email@example.com no later than January 16 .
Residents can access immediate information about all available services in the area through the Kane County Guide to Community Services online at www.kanecountyguide.org. The website is an internet based “one stop shopping” site for almost any social, health, or human service need in Kane County.
