In response to the community’s increased need for social services, the City of Elgin and United Way of Elgin will host an Agency Fair on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 1–5 p.m. at the Hemmens Cultural Center, lower level, 45 Symphony Way.
Local agencies that provide assistance for emergency services, food resources, clothing, utility help, housing, financial assistance, and counseling will be on site to provide information on how to access these services.
Lynne Bosley, President of United Way Elgin, acknowledged the dramatic increase in inquiries by families who have never before asked for assistance.
“Finding your way through the myriad of services that are available can be a daunting task even for those who are well versed in social services,” said Bosley. “We hope by offering this Agency Fair, we can help people connect with the appropriate social service agencies.”
