The Elgin community and residents adjacent to the proposed Prairie Park development, located on Willard Avenue, are encouraged to assist in the design process for a new skate park at the site on Monday, January 26 at 7 p.m. at the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way. Construction is expected to begin this spring.
A representative of the American Ramp Company will discuss concept plans, equipment and answer other technical questions and help finalize the park’s design via a webinar at the meeting. If interested, view some of the skate park options at www.cityofelgin.org/futureparks
“The new skate park at Grant School Park this past summer has been a great addition to our park system,” said Elgin’s Park Development Coordinator Paul Bednar. “The proposed park on the City’s east side will be bigger and meet the demand from skaters.”
Prairie Park is an eight-acre parcel that will offer six basketball half-courts and one full court, a walking trail, a picnic shelter, two soccer fields, and a native landscaped storm water detention area in addition to the skate park.
