[ARCHIVED] On-line Registration for Parks & Recreation Programs

The residents of Elgin and surrounding communities can now register online for many City of Elgin Parks and Recreation Department programs. Website registration will be available for a wide variety of winter programs and classes held at The Centre and several other facilities throughout the community. The on-line service is designed to provide a convenient alternative for today’s busy families. Rather than waiting in line or mailing in a registration, community members will be able to go online at www.cityofelgin.org to view and register for programs.

The on-line service supports searching for activities and classes, reviewing program details, and seeing how many openings are available in a specific program. Before registering on-line for the first time, residents will need to come to The Centre, 100 Symphony Way, to set-up an online account and receive their personal user ID and password. Elgin residents must provide proof of residency (Driver's License/State I.D. or Elgin Water Bill) to receive resident rates. Once registered, residents will be able to access their account information, register online, view their individual and family activity schedules, and print receipts.

For this program, The City of Elgin Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with The Active Network, a leading provider of registration, facility, and membership management solutions for community service organizations. A small convenience fee is applied to online transactions to cover system costs and fully secure internet payment processing with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. Walk up, mail in or faxed registrations will continue to be accepted along with our new online feature.

"We have many new and exciting programs and activities planned for the winter, including new neighborhood programs and our always popular Youth Basketball League," said Randy Reopelle, Parks and Recreation Director for the city. "The new on-line registration will make it easier than ever for participants to preview and register any member of their family for many of our great programs."

People will have access to register from the comfort of their home or office, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. "That shows our commitment to customer service," said Reopelle. "It also means our staff will spend less time processing paper registrations and more time with customers. It is also a much more ecologically friendly way to do business.”
