[ARCHIVED] Residential Rehabilitation Program – Homeowner Grant Application Availability

The City of Elgin is now accepting applications for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Residential Rehabilitation Program. Funds are available for the 2008/2009 project year with applications available until September 30, 2008.

The program seeks to financially assist homeowners in making exterior maintenance type repairs, while also improving the quality and safety of a city’s existing housing stock. The program also seeks to foster community pride.

Grants are available to low and moderate income households and property owners may qualify for a maximum of $10,000 to $15,000. Applicants must meet the Federal HUD income guidelines to qualify.

Owners may request an application by calling Elgin’s Community Development Department at 847-931-5910. Property owners also can pick up an application at City Hall, 150 Dexter Court, Elgin, IL 60120. A random selection of approximately 50 properties will be conducted and an eligibility list established for grant distribution after proper income qualification and project eligibility is conducted.
