[ARCHIVED] Flooding Causes Road Closures

“Road closures are primarily in the City’s southeast side,” said David Lawry, Elgin’s General Services Group Director. “Water levels are so high that roads are impassable.”
The City has closed Willard Avenue, Hunter Drive, Sadler Avenue and Varsity Drive. Lords Park is also closed as are Elgin’s bike path and Walton Island.
The National Weather Service is reporting that up to 8-inches of rain has fallen in the Elgin area and has caused flooding in many communities.
