[ARCHIVED] Elgin Police C.E.R.T. Class

The City of Elgin Police Department will host a C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) class beginning Monday, September 8th through Thursday, September 25 2008. The classes will be held at the Elgin Police Department at 151 Douglas Ave. in the 2nd floor training room. Each class will be from 6:00 pm through 9:00 pm. C.E.R.T. classes will be held on the following dates:
Monday September 8
Thursday September 11
Monday September 15
Thursday September 18
Monday September 22
Thursday September 25
This CERT class offers education and training to citizens wishing to effectively respond to emergencies in the home, school, work place, neighborhood or any disaster within the community. If a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the community’s professional response, CERT members can assist others by applying the basic response and organizational skills that are taught during training. These skills can help save and sustain lives following disaster until help arrives.

It is critical that emergency preparedness become a priority in our city, which is why the City of Elgin has formed a C.E.R.T. Citizens Corps Council made up of citizens volunteering to help in the event of disaster.
