This CERT class offers education and training to citizens wishing to effectively respond to emergencies in the home, school, work place, neighborhood or any disaster within the community. If a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the community’s professional response, CERT members can assist others by applying the basic response and organizational skills that are taught during training. These skills can help save and sustain lives following disaster until help arrives.
It is critical that emergency preparedness become a priority in our city, which is why the City of Elgin has formed a C.E.R.T. Citizens Corps Council made up of citizens volunteering to help in the event of disaster.
