The storm event Monday evening severely damaged private and public trees. The hardest hit area was the north east side of town. The damage was not isolated to that area alone. Tree damage has been reported from all sections of Elgin.
City crews are currently removing downed trees and picking up right of way limbs to ensure that the streets are safe for vehicles.
Storm damage tree debris will be picked up next week, from Monday, August 11 through Friday, August 15. Please cut up storm damage tree debris into 4 foot lengths, bundle it and place it at the curb for Waste Management to pick up on your garbage day. Public Works will also begin block by block with no set schedule or route picking up tree debris, throughout the week.
