The City of Elgin's fourth of July fireworks display ended abruptly on Friday after electrical panel malfunctioned.
"The fireworks display is prewired and computerized," explained Randy Reopelle, director of parks and recreation. "The fireworks are actually launched by computer. There was a malfunction that shut down the display."
The City is discussing the problem with the company Central Fireworks to ensure the issue does not happen again.
"We understand the inconvenience," said Reopelle. "And we're terribly sorry."
