The Elgin Parks and Recreation Department is currently offering FREE programs in local neighborhoods for children ages 6-12 through August 8. Staff will be at various parks to offer residents the opportunity to participate in supervised activities such as sports, arts and crafts and games. Drop in Playgrounds is offered Monday through Friday, 10a.m. -3 p.m. at Gifford Elementary School, Wing Park, St. Francis Park, Grolich Park, Channing Park (ends 7/11) and Eagle Heights Park (7/14-8/8). Rec In The Streets is offered 10 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at Settler Park on Mondays, Mulberry Grove on Tuesdays, Shadow Hill on Wednesdays, College Green on Thursdays and Willow Bay on Fridays. In the afternoons, Rec In The Streets will be 1-3:30 p.m. at Drake Field on Mondays, Poplar Creek on Tuesdays, Century Oaks West on Wednesdays, Trinity Park on Thursdays, and Meier Park on Fridays. Pre-registration is not required, simply "drop-in" to your neighborhood site for more information and receive a waiver form.
