Elgin Human Relations Commission and Rainbow Push have joined forces to sponsor a community forum, Unity in the Community, on Saturday, June 14, 2008 9 a.m. – noon at the Gail Borden Library. The purpose of the forum is to:
• celebrate the diversity of Elgin
• discover the connections between the mission and work of the many community organizations that serve the residents of Elgin
• create a collective voice and united vision of empowerment
Participating organizations include: The Elgin Human Relations Commission, Rainbow Push Coalition Northwest Suburban Chapter, SOAP (Speak Out Against Prejudice), LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens), NAACP-Elgin , The Illinois Commission on Diversity and Human Relations, The Fox Valley Peace and Justice Coalition, The Asian American Community of Elgin, BBOCNO (Black Business Owners & Community Networking Org. Inc), CERL (Coalition of Elgin Religious Leaders), The Black Ministers Alliance, Centro de Informacion and the Community Crisis Center. Facilitating the forum will be Phillip Reed, SNAP Consulting Group, of Schaumburg.
Community members are encouraged to attend this public event to discover the many ways in which we are connected, thus creating Unity in Our Community.
