[ARCHIVED] 2008 Summer Open Gym Program

Come join the fun and meet your local Elgin Police School Liaison Officers! All summer long, the Elgin Police Department School Liaison Program, in cooperation with the City of Elgin Parks & Recreation, Elgin Township, School District U-46, the Gail Borden Library and the Renz Addiction Counseling Center is sponsoring a FREE Open Gym and Fun Program. This program will run from June 9 – August 8, 2008, and is open to all individuals 8 – 16 years old residing within Elgin Township.

Participants will meet at the designated U-46 school and engage in a variety of structured activities which include; basketball, kickball, soccer, floor hockey, swimming, and arts and crafts. Various guest speakers and presenters will take part in the program. Some of the topics included this year are; baking, police K-9, bicycle safety, gang awareness & prevention, life skills, drug & alcohol awareness, humane treatment of animals and much more.

The Open Gym and Fun Program is offered Monday through Friday, from 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm. A one time waiver and participation form is required. These forms are available on the City of Elgin website, www.cityofelgin.org, under Police Department, Juvenile Investigations. The Waiver and Participation forms may be submitted in one of the following ways; at the school during the first day of participation, or by mailing them in, or dropping them off at the Elgin Police Department, 151 Douglas Avenue, Elgin, IL 60120.

Thursdays: Channing Elementary School, 63 S. Channing St.
Friday: Abbott Middle School, 949 Van St.

COST: FREE
