[ARCHIVED] EIGHT ARRESTED IN DRUG SWEEP

As the result of an ongoing investigation into citizen complaints of gang and drug related activity at the high rise apartment building located at 222 Locust St., officers from Elgin and South Elgin Police Departments served five (5) separate search warrants, on five (5) different apartments at that location during the early morning hours of March 06, 2008. The investigations focused on Elgin’s street gangs and the drug activity taking place in and around 222 Locust St. During the course of the investigation Elgin officers made several undercover drug buys from individuals believed to be gang members and residing at or with a resident of 222 Locust.

As a result of the search warrants, officers located drugs, drug paraphernalia, a weapon, additional subjects wanted on outstanding warrants and subjects barred/banded from the property.

Those arrested and charged are:

James E. Stewart, 39yoa M/B 222 Locust; 1 count Delivery of Controlled Substance, Class 1 Felony

Deonta M Giles, 27yoa M/B 4 Clifford Ct.; 1 count Delivery of Controlled Substance, Class 1 Felony; 1 count Criminal Trespass to Property, Class “B” Misd

Jeremy Brunett, 22yoa M/B 222 Locust; 1 count Unlawful Possession w/intent to Delivery CS, Class 1 Felony; 1 count Unlawful Possession w/intent to Delivery Cannabis, Class 4 Felony

Jasmine P Brown, 20yoa, M/B 222 Locust; 1 count Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Class 4 Felony

Maria Kalgan 25youa, F/W 222 Locust, 1 count Unlawful Possession of Drug Para, Class “A” Misd

Corey B. Martin 33yoa, M/B 300 Mclure; 1 count Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Class “B” Misd; 1 count Criminal Trespass to Property, Class “B” Misd

Shamika Crenshaw 29yoa, F/B 222 Locust; 1 count UUW in a Public Housing Complex, Class “A” Misd

Gregory Rogers, 45yoa, M/B 222 Locust; DUI Warrant

Each of the subjects were transported to Elgin Police Department where they were booked, processed and allowed to bond out or await morning bond call on Friday, March 7 in Elgin.
