On January 28, 2008 at approximately 10:00am, the Elgin Emergency Communications Center received a call in reference to a dog bite in the 200 block of Gertrude. Officers were dispatched and found a 53 year old woman with injuries sustained in the incident. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment of her injuries. The injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
Officers learned that the victim was walking her dog when another dog attacked her. According to information received, there were two pit bull dogs and both were taken into the custody of Elgin Animal Control. The Elgin Police Department is attempting to locate the owner of the animals. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
