Elgin residents experiencing home, property or business damage as a result of the storms and flooding this past summer can apply for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) by calling 1-800-621-3362 or by going online at www.fema.gov.
FEMA representatives will also be going door to door this weekend, Oct. 6-7 in designated disaster areas to notify Elgin residents of the need to apply for assistance. Residents have 60 days from September 25 to apply for disaster aid.
FEMA has also set up a temporary Disaster Recovery Center at Kane County’s North Campus, 530 S. Randall Road, St. Charles, IL. The center is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
