[ARCHIVED] Special Census Workers Needed

The City of Elgin will be conducting a special census beginning in November and is seeking temporary part-time workers to work nights and weekends.

Elgin needs a more accurate population count to benefit from additional state revenues and to assist in future City planning. The 2000 Census estimated Elgin’s population to be 94,784. Elgin’s current population is estimated to be 105,327, but a count of Elgin’s growth areas is necessary to verify the number.

Census employees are paid from $11-$16/hour depending upon the position. Workers are also reimbursed for travel. Interested persons may contact the City of Elgin’s Human Resources Department at (847) 931-6100 ext. 6049 or pick up an application at Elgin City Hall, 150 Dexter Ct.
