The City of Elgin has established a special collection for tree limbs and branches damaged during the Tuesday, Sept. 25 storm. Elgin Public Works Department personnel along with contract crews will begin collecting storm debris in designated areas on Wednesday, Sept. 26 and continue through Friday, Oct. 5.
The designated collection area is located on Elgin’s west side and bounded by Wing St. to the north, McLean Blvd. to the west, Rt. 20 to the south and State St. (Rt.31) to the east (see attached map). Residents in this area are asked to place all tree limbs and branches on the treebank for collection. Please note that branches and limbs do not need to be broken down or bundled for this special collection. As always, prepaid refuse stickers are not required to dispose of brush and branches.
If you have storm-related branches to dispose of and your home is not located in the designated collection area, please contact the Elgin Public Works Department at (847)697-3160
