[ARCHIVED] World Wide Day of Play

Saturday, September 29, 2007 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. 35 park and recreation agencies throughout the state are hosting a free “Day of Play” in Elgin. This will be the first time the Elgin Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the event. The important message is to get youth to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Youth activities at the Worldwide Day of Play event are targeted for children in elementary school through middle school.

With childhood obesity rates at epidemic proportions, Illinois’ park districts, forest preserves, conservation, recreation and special recreation agencies are taking an aggressive approach to combat this health hazard.

We encourage all families and their children to come out and play! This event is FREE for everyone. The locations are Wing Park (by the golf clubhouse) 1030 Wing Street and Lords Park (by the upper tennis courts) 325 Hiawatha Drive both in Elgin. Activities will include group games, relays, contests, health facts, entertainment/DJ, giveaways, raffles, sports and much, much more.

For more information on activities at Wing Park please contact Barb Keselica at 847/531-7056 and for Lords Park contact Kone Chansey at 847-289-2689.
