The Gifford Park Association has recently announced plans for the 26th Annual Historic House Tour. This year’s housewalk will take place on Sunday, August 26th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Homes on the tour are all located within the near west side neighborhood.
The self guided tour will feature interiors and exteriors of 8 private homes dating from the last quarter of the 19th Century thru the first quarter of the 20th Century. Tour volunteers will guide people thru the homes while providing information about the homes’ history and architecture.
Ticket prices are $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the tour. $10 tickets are available for those under the age of 12 or over 65 years of age. Advanced tickets for the tour will be available starting in July at: Elgin Ace Hardware – both Spring St. and Lillian St.; Elgin Jewel Foods – both Summit St. and Larkin Ave; and Al’s Café & Creamery – 43 DuPage Ct. Tour headquarter the day of the event will be at Fire Station #6, 707 W. Chicago Street. Advance ticketholders can pick up their tour booklets at check-in, and new tickets will also be for sale.
