[ARCHIVED] City of Elgin 2007 FoxFireFest Concerts in the Park Series

– The City of Elgin is proud to announce an outstanding performance lineup for the 2007 Concerts in the Parks season! These free concerts will be held on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. at Wing Park and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. at Lords Park Pavilion throughout the summer, beginning on June 19 with Spoken Four, and ending on August 11 with the U.S. Airforce Band.

The entire season schedule is as follows:

Wing Park Concerts in the Park, 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. 1000 Wing Street:

In addition to a wide variety of styles of music, the concerts at Wing Park will be preceded by the FoxFireFest Idol contests, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on June 26, July 10, July 17 and July 24. The alternate date for rain or additional contestants will be held on July 31

June 19th – Spoken Four
They sing a variety of covers from Jackson 5 to the Bee Gees to Aerosmith to Maroon 5!
June 26th – LP to CD
Rock-n- Roll All Nite, Mustang Sally, and What I like About You are the kind of songs you will hear from this band!
July 10th – Exorna Celtic Band
Authentic and energetic Celtic music trio from Ireland, England and the U.S., bringing flashy reels and jigs, rich vocals accompanied by traditional fiddle, badhran, accordion, banjo and much more!
* ( This date was previously advertised as Elgin Community College Band, which has since been changed to Exorna)

July 17th – Billy Childers Band
Who doesn’t love a country band that plays with a little bit of rock? This group is a favorite with those who love traditional and contemporary country!
July 24th – BBI
They are the ultimate party band whose music spans from the 1960’s all the way until today!
July 31st – Saturday June Band
One of the band members were born and raised here in Elgin. Some of the bands songs include: You’ve Really Got Me, Stop Dragging My Heart Around, and Venus!
August 11th – United States Air Force Band of Mid-America
The band has performed current popular styles, jazz, marches, concert and patriotic music for literally millions of listeners. Come and see what all the hype is about!

Lord’s Park Pavilion, 100 Oakwood Blvd.
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

June 24th – Elgin Symphony Orchestra Brass Trio
Elgin’s finest classical performers who will awe you with their talent!
July 8th – Bopology
Bopology blends the old time swing from the greats such as Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and Louie Prima with the modern swing from bands such as The Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Royal Crown Revue and Brian Setzer.
July 15th – The Ragtops
An oldies group that takes listeners on a nostalgic trip back to when sock hops, poodle skirts, and malt shops were the rage!
July 22nd – Bag Shot Row
This band masters cover songs from the 1950’s and 60’s like the Hippy Hippy Shake, That Thing You Do, and Really Got A Hold On Me!
July 29th – Elvis
“The medley of songs, Teddy Bear and All Shook Up rocks the house… No doubt about it; Elvis Lives on!” Chicago Sun-Times
