[ARCHIVED] CBD Constructions Work Continues Week of June 11

Work continues in Elgin’s Central Business District (CBD) as contract crews work to complete pavement restoration for the week of June 11.

A layer of asphalt will be placed on Spring Street, south of DuPage Street, and on South Grove Avenue on Monday, June 11. Traffic will be directed around the construction but all lanes will be open by 5 p.m.

On Tuesday, June 12, South Grove Avenue will be closed to northbound traffic between Chicago and Fulton Streets to complete pavement restoration. The northbound lane will be re-opened on Friday, June 15.

In addition, work will continue throughout the Spring Street area. The southbound lane of Spring Street, north of DuPage and Fulton Streets and the Spring / Fulton / Grove intersection will be closed at various times throughout the week. Motorists are asked to remain cautious in these areas. Traffic will be directed around the construction operations by construction personnel.

Everyone is reminded that free parking is available in the Spring Street Parking Deck at Chicago Street and Spring Street and at the Fulton Street Parking Deck, one block east of Spring Street on Fulton Street. Pedestrian accessibility will be maintained throughout the construction operation.

Specific questions regarding the construction can be directed to Shelley Costello with TranSystems at 847-871-3185.
