Work continues in Elgin’s Central Business District (CBD) as contract crews work to complete pavement restoration and underground work for the week of June 4.
The week’s lane closures and construction work is as follows:
Monday, June 4th – Fulton Street will be closed from Spring Street to just west of the ECC parking lot entrance. Motorists needing to access the ECC parking lot should enter using Fulton Street from Villa Street. Traffic lanes will be restored by 5 p.m.
Tuesday, June 5th -- Lane closures will be set up on Spring Street and south Grove Avenue intermittently throughout the week. Spring Street will be closed to northbound traffic between DuPage and Chicago Streets. South Grove Avenue between Chicago Street and Spring / Fulton Streets will be closed to southbound traffic to allow for pavement restoration. Traffic lanes will be restored on Friday, June 8.
Wednesday, June 6 –Water main work will take place on Spring Street, just south of Chicago Street. This work will take place within the lane closure initially set up on Tuesday.

Thursday, June – Water main work will continue at the northeast corner of Fulton Street and Spring Street. Traffic will be flagged around the work zone by construction personnel.
Friday, June 8 – Asphalt surface work will be completed within the lane closures on Spring Street and south Grove Avenue. Two- way traffic on these streets will be restored by the end of the work day.
Free parking is available in the Spring Street Parking Deck at Chicago Street and Spring Street and at the Fulton Street Parking Deck, one block east of Spring Street on Fulton Street. Pedestrian accessibility will be maintained throughout the construction operation.
