[ARCHIVED] CBD Water Main Installation Continues

Elgin’s Spring Street will be closed between Chicago and DuPage Streets on Monday, May 21 as the city’s contractor continues to install a water main in Elgin’s Central Business District.

Crews will be saw-cutting pavement in the area and traffic will be directed around the construction by contractor personnel.

Beginning Tuesday, May 22, southbound Grove Avenue also will be closed between Fulton and Prairie Streets. Southbound motorists can access Grove Avenue east along Fulton Street to Villa Street, south on Villa Street to Prairie Street and west on Prairie Street to Grove Ave. Street closures will be in affect through Friday, May 25. Parking will be prohibited on this section of South Grove Street.

Resident and guests are reminded that free parking is available in the Spring Street Parking Deck at Chicago Street and Spring Street, and at the Fulton Street Parking Deck, one block east of Spring Street. Pedestrian accessibility will be maintained throughout the construction operation.
