[ARCHIVED] Central Business District Work Scheduled for Thursday, May 17

Pavement restoration work on Chicago Street between North and South Grove Avenues will begin Thursday, May 17 and will close two of the four lanes – including the right turn lane – onto South Grove Ave. through Monday, May 21.

The right-through lane and the right-turn lane on Chicago Street leading to South Grove Ave. will be closed, excavated and filled with concrete to replace the road’s base. At different times during construction, steel plates will be placed over the lanes and be re-opened to traffic temporarily. This arrangement will allow through traffic and right turns on to South Grove Avenue for the majority of the week. Placement of the final asphalt surface will take place on Monday, May 21.

Southbound motorists can use Spring Street or Villa Street to Fulton Street, and then proceed north on Grove to their destination. Specific questions regarding the construction can be directed to Shelley Costello with TranSystems at 847-871-3185.

For general information on the project, please contact Steve Pertzborn, Senior Engineer, at
