[ARCHIVED] Elgin Begins Clark Street Water Main Intall Project

This week, the City of Elgin’s Contractor for Clark Street water main will begin initial set up for water main installation to begin March 14th.

The Clark Street Water Main project consists of furnishing and installing approximately 3,800 lineal feet of 24-inch diameter water main and appurtenances in Murray Avenue, from McClure Avenue to Clark Street, and in Clark Street from Murray Avenue to State Street (Route 31) including 2 ½ inch diameter fiber optic conduit.

This project is the last phase of the Riverside to Airlite Water Treatment Plant transmission main. The new main will transfer water from the Riverside Water Treatment Plant to two reservoirs at the Airlite Water Treatment Plant, from where it can be re-pumped to the high and west pressure zones. The water main is not directly connected to any service connections.

This phase of the project is expected to take approximately four months. Please exercise caution around all equipment and vehicles displaying flashing yellow lights. If you have any questions on the project, please call the City of Elgin Water Department at (847) 931- 6150.
