[ARCHIVED] Elgin Police Department Transparency Site

transparency

The Elgin Police Department recognizes the importance of transparency in policing. This dashboard is intended to fulfill this crucial need within our community. Unless a dataset is noted otherwise, dashboards are updated on 15 minute intervals. On the home screen visitors will see the total dispatched calls for service with an ongoing comparison between call volume and response to resistance incidents and employee complaints.

Within the highly interactive site visitors can find officers for their neighborhoods or schools. Crime information is provided for overall dispatched events, and specifics for burglaries, traffic, incidents involving gunfire and homicides, including cold cases from 1971-forward. A sex offender search is also available.

We know the public is also interested in how the department responds to resistance during an incident. Analytics are provided for this, as well as for complaints against our employees. We've also added a section about the good news that happens at EPD, and provided recruitment demographic information.

Our intention is to continue expanding the data available in dashboards to ensure the Elgin community has access to information that will strengthen the bond of trust between us and those we serve.
