[ARCHIVED] Elgin Police Department to Set Up Roadside Safety Checks

Elgin’s Police Department will be setting up various roadside safety checks throughout the holiday weekend.

“Roadside safety checks are truly about ensuring safety,” said Elgin Sgt. Tom Olson. “We’re primarily promoting vehicle safety, but we also look to ensure driver’s have valid licenses and proof of insurance. Police officers are also ensuring the proper use of safety belts and equipment while also checking to ensure a driver’s sobriety.”

Roadside safety checks are part of the Illinois Department of Highway Safety Project that promotes traffic safety on highways.
